“It’s Time to Deliver!”, Indonesia Net-Zero Summit 2026 to Drive Concrete Climate Action

Foreign Policy Community of Indonesia (FPCI) will commence the country’s biggest climate conference, the Indonesia Net-Zero Summit (INZS), on August 1 in the capital Jakarta.

INZS 2026 presents the theme “It’s Time to Deliver!” to convey a crucial message that the global and national climate commitment must promptly be translated into concrete action.

In a press release published on July 29, FPCI Founder and Chairman, former Indonesian Deputy Foreign Minister, Dino Patti Djalal, elaborated on the essence of the theme. He noted that the emphasis on “delivery” stems from the fact that “so many government programmes across various sectors end up failing”. “Failing in the implementation. Failing in the follow-up,” he added.

“The programmes are good,” he admitted, “but for some reason, many fail during implementation”.

As the geopolitical landscape deepens fragmentation and uncertainty, Dino underscored the urgency of energy security. Thus, he explained, FPCI intentionally structured INZS 2026 to serve as a multi-sectoral platform for anchoring practical solutions.

He specifically affirmed the vital role of middle-power countries, including Indonesia, in spearheading climate action. “Not just one country, not only Brazil, but Indonesia, Brazil, Australia, Germany, Canada—countries that have the capacity and ability to safeguard cooperation, especially regarding climate change,” he noted.

“Right now, the question is, if they [developed nations] do not want to move far enough, can we change the game? Can we take the lead? I believe we can. It’s going to be a tough fight,” Dino concluded.

Echoing the sentiment, the Managing Director of the Energy Shift Institute Putra Adhiguna highlighted the window of opportunity emerging from investing and taking the “climate risk”. He elaborated that “there is no turning back” to non-renewable energy, meaning “the direction of investment has shifted”.

Held annually since 2021, INZS has evolved from a virtual pandemic-era initiative into Indonesia’s largest independent grassroots climate forum. Last year, the conference gathered over 8,000 physical participants from diverse backgrounds, uniting them under one roof to discuss the way forward. The summit aims to exert an even greater impact this year.
