French cuisine is taking centre stage across Indonesia this autumn as Rendez-vous Rasa: France–Indonesia Gastronomy Week 2026 brings French flavours, Indonesian culinary traditions and international chefs together from September 23 to October 4, 2026.
Formerly known as Le Goût de France – Cita Rasa Prancis, the fourth edition is expanding its reach across the archipelago, with around 150 restaurants in 40 cities and more than 10 islands joining the celebration. Visitors can expect French-inspired menus, culinary workshops, live-cooking demos and food-focused cultural events at participating venues.

The programme also forms part of Wonderful Indonesia Gastronomy (WIG) 2026, creating a wider platform for French and Indonesian culinary professionals to exchange techniques, ideas and traditions. This partnership brings together restaurants, chefs, students, educators and food enthusiasts around Indonesia’s growing gastronomy scene.
Speaking at the opening press conference at Institut français d’Indonésie on September 23, Fabrice Fize, Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of France in Indonesia, highlighted the two countries’ commitment to cooperation and mutual learning. He also pointed to the growing partnership in vocational training, particularly in the hospitality and culinary sectors, where knowledge-sharing remains an important part of bilateral cooperation.

One of the programme main attractions is French chef Stéphane Carrade, whose restaurant experience has earned him two Michelin stars and a Michelin Green Star. From September 23 to 30, chef Carrade will travel through Jakarta, Makassar, Surakarta and Bandung, joining Indonesian chefs for cooking demonstrations and collaborative dining events.
The programme extends beyond dining tables. Fabrice Danniel, Deputy Director of Culinary Arts at Le Cordon Bleu Paris will lead workshops for Indonesian university students, while the ARIF apprenticeship programme continues to train Indonesian culinary and pastry students in France. A separate training initiative, FITT, will support Indonesian vocational educators in teaching French culinary techniques.
For travellers and food lovers, the experience can also continue online. A new food photography competition by IFI and Nikon Indonesia invites visitors to dine at participating restaurants, capture their dishes and share the experience on Instagram.
By bringing together food, education and cultural exchange, Rendez-vous Rasa offers visitors a different way to experience the connections between France and Indonesia through the people, traditions and stories behind the food.
