A subsidiary of the Vietnamese conglomerate Saigon Investment Group, Saigon Telecommunication and Technology Corp (Sigontel), is leading a 3.5 billion US dollar artificial intelligence (AI) data centre development project intended for Vietnam’s Tay Ninh province. The consortium also comprises World Harmony Co Ltd and SAIF Eagle II Investment Co Ltd.
A letter of interest was submitted to the Tay Ninh provincial authorities during the 2026 Tay Ninh Investment Promotion Conference on August 28. Reportedly, the venture is pending final investment procedures and is scheduled to commence the first-phase construction in the fourth quarter of 2026, aiming for commercial operations to go live in 2027.
The AI data centre is slated to be built on a 20-hectare complex within Nam Tan Tap Industrial Park, a site managed by a Saigontel subsidiary. The computing infrastructure is engineered for a maximum capacity of 200 megawatts (MW). To accomplish this, the consortium plans to collaborate with the Tay Ninh authorities and local power sectors to secure a stable electricity supply alongside supportive regulatory frameworks.
What does this mean for businesses?
With the initial construction phase targeting a 100-MW threshold, the Tay Ninh AI infrastructure is positioned to become one of Vietnam’s flagship data centre developments. Upon completion to its full 200-MW capacity, the project will substantially upgrade digital infrastructure across the southern economic region, acting as a powerful magnet to attract global tech enterprises and foreign direct investment (FDI). Furthermore, this massive digital expansion directly complements the central government’s ongoing macroeconomic drive to divest state funds and unlock high-growth industries for private capital.
