The fourth Busworld Southeast Asia is currently taking place from 20–22 May at the Jakarta International Expo (JIExpo) in Indonesia. Firmly established as the region’s premier bus and coach exhibition, the event unites manufacturers, suppliers, operators and public officials.
Held biennially, Busworld is recognised as the largest and most prestigious business-to-business (B2B) platform dedicated exclusively to the bus and coach sector across Southeast Asia.
This year’s gathering features over 1,500 companies from across related fields. Among the notable participants are Indonesia’s leading bus body builders, namely Adi Putro, Laksana, Tentrem and New Armada (each attending for the fourth consecutive year) alongside debut exhibitor Piala Mas.
Indonesia’s presence underscores its role as a key player in the regional market, backed by robust domestic manufacturing and an extensive ecosystem of local body builders collaborating with global chassis brands.
The exhibition offers visitors a comprehensive view of the bus and coach landscape, spanning city buses to luxury coaches, as well as next-generation electric and smart vehicles. Interior fittings and safety systems are also on display.
Running alongside is a conference held under the theme “Driving the Future of ASEAN Mobility: Clean, Smart and Connected Buses”, which places the sector’s strategic pivot towards green technology, electrification and domestic supply chain development front and centre.
The forum brings together government officials, industry experts, technocrats and stakeholders to examine emerging trends and shape policies tailored to ASEAN nations. The overarching goal is a modernised, integrated transport system that meets global standards and can attract the investment needed to elevate the region’s supply chain capabilities.
What does this mean for businesses?
Busworld Southeast Asia signals that the region is entering a more integrated phase of mobility development, one where cross-sector collaboration is not merely encouraged but expected.
For businesses across automotive, transportation and adjacent sectors, this translates into concrete opportunities: new supply chain partnerships, access to policy dialogues shaping future procurement and early positioning in emerging electric and smart bus markets. Indonesia, in particular, is asserting itself as the region’s manufacturing anchor, making it a strategic base for companies looking to scale across ASEAN.
