On January 4, Vietnam officially banned the Chinese Shine On Me drama series after a scene in episode 25 was found displaying a ‘nine-dash line’ map.
The country’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism said that the map itself ‘misrepresents and violates Vietnam’s national sovereignty’. Vietnam has taken a similar action for the Flight To You drama, for displaying the disputed maps and was banned in 2023.
