On May 14, Thailand strengthened its international film tourism profile during the Cannes Film Festival by hosting “Amazing Thai Night in Cannes 2026”, a promotional event aimed at highlighting the country as a leading destination for global film productions.
Organised by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), the event was held at Annex Beach as part of the campaign “Amazing Location Thailand: The Story Continues – From Scene to Scenic Journeys”. It aims to support Thailand’s broader strategy to expand screen tourism ahead of the Thailand FILMAZING Year in 2027, spearheaded by the Thailand Film Office.
Moreover, the initiative allows gathering of filmmakers, media professionals, industry partners and key opinion leaders from the international film community. Designed as an intimate networking occasion, the evening followed the theme “Healing is the New Luxury”, presenting Thailand not only as a major filming location but also as a destination associated with wellness, culture and creative inspiration.
The event formed part of Thailand’s wider participation at the Thailand Pavilion in Cannes. Activities at the pavilion included seminars, product showcases, media briefings, networking sessions and workshops intended to strengthen engagement with international industry delegates. The pavilion was officially opened on May 13 by Suphajee Suthumpun. Later the same day, a Thai Night reception took place at the Carlton Cannes under the patronage of Princess Ubolratana.
According to TAT Governor Thapanee Kiatphaibool, the initiative highlights Thailand as a place where cinematic storytelling naturally extends into travel experiences, supported by diverse locations, skilled crews and renowned hospitality.
Thailand’s film production industry has continued to expand. In 2025, the country hosted 546 foreign productions worth over 6 billion baht (162 million US dollar). Between January and April 2026, 218 projects generated 2.46 billion baht (66 million US dollar). Supported by incentives such as cash rebates of up to 30%, Thailand aims to increase film production revenue to 10 billion baht (270 million US dollar) by 2027.
