On January 26, 23 marines from the Indonesian navy were buried alive during pre-service training in Cisarua, West Java, before being deployed to Indonesia-Papua New Guinea border station. The training area experienced a landslide following heavy rainfall. Four of the casualties were found dead, while 19 are still missing. However, the search and rescue team face a profound challenge as extreme weather is impeding the process.
