On July 19, Hanoi was recognised as one of the world’s leading cities for customer service, reinforcing Vietnam’s growing reputation as a destination known for its warm hospitality.
While Southeast Asia is widely regarded as one of the friendliest regions for visitors, with countries such as Indonesia and Thailand celebrated for their welcoming communities, many travellers regard Vietnam as standing out for the warmth of its people and quality of service.
According to The Star, Vietnam has featured among the world’s best-performing countries for hospitality for several consecutive years. The publication referred to MoneySuperMarket’s latest World’s Top Ten Cities with the Friendliest Customer Service ranking, in which Hanoi emerged as the only Southeast Asian city to make the list.
The Vietnamese capital received high marks for the professionalism and friendliness of employees across a range of businesses. Its strong performance reflects cultural values that prioritise kindness, mutual respect and a strong sense of community, all of which continue to shape the country’s approach to welcoming visitors.
To produce the rankings, MoneySuperMarket examined more than 1,000 online customer reviews from businesses located in 107 cities around the world. The analysis covered restaurants, bars, tourist attractions and leisure venues, measuring how frequently visitors praised staff attitudes and the overall standard of customer service.
Edinburgh claimed first place after 59% of reviewers described staff and service as friendly. Hanoi ranked a close second, with positive comments appearing in 58.6% of reviews, narrowly ahead of Liverpool, which secured third place with 58.3%.
The latest recognition further highlights Hanoi’s appeal not only as a cultural and historical destination but also as a city where visitors can expect a welcoming atmosphere and attentive service throughout their stay.
