A capacity-building seminar on ASEAN practices is taking place in Dili, gathering officials, diplomats, civil society and media representatives to strengthen Timor-Leste’s regional engagement on February 10. Organised by JICA and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation with support from the Cambodian Embassy, the programme aims to improve technical skills and understanding of ASEAN mechanisms.
Japanese Ambassador Yamamoto Yasushi said the workshop supports Timor-Leste’s ASEAN accession process, reaffirming Japan’s continued cooperation with regional partners. Cambodian Ambassador Chun Sovannarith and Vice-Minister Milena Rangel highlighted the initiative as practical training to prepare officials and future leaders to contribute to ASEAN community-building.
