On February 3–4, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto met with Muslim mass organisation leaders including Nahdlatul Ulama, Muhammadiyah and Majelis Ulama Islam, following public outroar over Indonesia’s accession to the US-backed Board of Peace. A day later, he convened a meeting with former high-ranking officials at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at the Presidential Palace. As the results of the meetings, Indonesia reiterated its commitment to Palestinians independence and showed readiness to withdraw if the board contradicts the objectives of Palestinians. Notably, the meetings took place only a week after Prabowo signalled his willingness to spend US$1 billion to become permanent member of the Board.
