On February 13, representatives from Laos’ southern province of Attapeu and Cambodia’s Ratanakiri province agreed to develop transport connectivity between the two countries’ borders. The deal defines specific transport corridor connection points along the border and commits both provinces to conduct feasibility studies and surveys for road and border facility construction.
The provinces have also established joint technical teams to oversee implementation and provisions for regular information sharing between the two sides.
A day earlier, on 12 February, Lao and Cambodian officials conducted a joint border inspection to confirm connection points along the frontier. Authorities emphasised that the agreed coordinates will not affect the existing border demarcation between the two nations.
