CELIOS’ Annual China–Indonesia Survey 2025 underlines positive sentiment of China, with 71% supporting economic cooperations and 94% perceiving President Prabowo Subianto’s closeness to Beijing.
Nearly all respondents supported Indonesia’s membership in BRICS, while 92% viewed China as a trusted partner for energy transition and 78% respondents see high-speed rail to Surabaya positively and should be extended. The research concludes that pragmatic approach should be upheld, while it is clear that China is Indonesia’s key partner, it needs to be cautious strategically.
