The Philippines’ National Security Council (NSC) revealed a clandestine Chinese intelligence operations on its territory on March 4. The Philippine NSC considered this activity as a ‘serious national security matter’. However, the council had reiterated that the activity had been terminated. It also refused to disclose any details concerning individuals, methods and timeline concerning the foreign-direct activity. As a result, the NSC pushed the ratification of the Anti-Espionage Bill to replace Commonwealth Act 616 and the Anti-Foreign Malign Influence and Interference Act in order to strengthen preventive and investigative measures.
