Myanmar’s junta military government resumed the second phase of their election on January 11. The voting began at 6 a.m. and ended at 4 p.m. across 100 municipalities.
This move follows last week’s announcement of the Union Solidarity and Development Party’s (USDP) victory in both lower and upper houses.
While the junta firmly controls major cities such as Yangon, Mandalay and Naypyidaw where the Bamar majority ethnic live, some ethnic minorities were hoping local parties to secure victory to make prospective policy changes for their states.
