Indonesia and the US have aligned their views on trade deals on December 23. This was stated by Airlangga Hartarto, Indonesia’s Coordinating Minister for Economy, after commencing a meeting with the US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer.
The deal is expected to be signed at the end of January 2026. Under the agreement, reciprocal tariff is to be diminished from 32% to 19%. Indonesia secured tariff exemptions on major export commodities such as palm oil, tea, and coffee, while agreeing to greater market access for US goods. In exchange, Indonesia has agreed to purchase 19 billion dollars products, including 50 boeing aircrafts.
