Border shift moves three Indonesian villages into Malaysia in North Borneo

A border realignment between Indonesia and Malaysia has reportedly placed parts of three villages in Nunukan, North Kalimantan, Indonesia within Malaysian territory. The shift was stated by the Secretary of the Indonesian Border Management Agency, Police Commissioner General Makhruzi Rahman on January 21.

The three villages affected were Kabungalor Village, Lipaga Village, and Tetagas Village. This is caused by the Outstanding Boundary Problem (OBP), in which authorities are now addressing the citizenship and relocation concerns of affected villagers.
